About Leigha
A single mom of a 9-year-old boy with special needs, and a 12-year-old girl, Leigha Messick and her family live in La Plata, Maryland.
She is a small business owner, Founder, and President of Round Table Haven, a nonprofit animal rescue, a volunteer for Port Tobacco River Conservancy, former manager of The Humane Society of Charles County, and a member of Charles County’s Animal Hearing Board. For years, she’s fought for animal welfare, and environmental conservation, advocated for mental health awareness and support, and spoken out against domestic violence and child abuse.
Leigha has worked hard to help the people in our community and has seen firsthand the love and compassion that thrives here. When Leigha’s not advocating on behalf of the many issues impacting our community, she enjoys reading her weight in books (and talking about them at book club), photography, writing, fostering animals, visiting county parks, hiking, and meeting new people.
